One hot summer week in 2001, Jill Jenkins fearlessly packed a bus full of children to head to Camp Lee in Alabama. It was a great week filled with friendships and memories as we learned what it meant to “Dive into our faith”…. Steven Curtis Chapman’s hit song “Dive” was still considered cool. The most notable moment of the week was when some hooligan named Rhett Shull found a left-behind pile of magazines under a mattress in the boys’ cabin. Each year students from JCBC give up their spring break to go on mission and serve in the DR, leading VBS, teaching English in local schools, and completing construction projects in the community. This year we served at The Good Shepherd Church in Villa Altagracia, about an hour northwest of Santo Domingo. It was our largest group in over five years, as we brought 35 students and adults to go and be the Lord’s...

This time of transition in their lives forces them to discern who they are, what is their faith, and who are the people I am close to that love...

It has been a fun and fabulous summer in the youth group and we aren’t even half way there! This summer the youth group has, is, or will go to two summer camps, a mission trip to Canada, and a summer blow out adventure at the Helen Water Park. Last month our High School students were off to Camp Wafloy in Gatlinburg Tennessee for a wonderful week of camp where we got to experience white water rafting, a wild cave tour, Dollywood and Splash Country theme parks, zip-lining, and  so much more. It was a life-changing week where we were able...

For those of you who are unaware, our youth group recently returned from Faith in 3D, one of the most exciting retreats of the year, in Orlando Florida. Faith in 3D is a multidenominational conference that happens every three to five years at Walt Disney World. The weekend is designed to immerse youth from different Christian backgrounds in a united backdrop of worship, as they explore their common faith in Jesus Christ. This weekend challenged our students to contemplate God’s dream for their life through worship, education, and community building. To top it all off, we were at the one...
