Johns Creek Kids

It happens every year… one moment you are enjoying a calm summer evening as a family and then you blink… the kids have already missed three soccer practices, someone is already failing math class, and you are already hearing if you can’t make the German Club’s Labor Day trip to Hamburg then your child is going to fall behind. School has been back for less than a month and you have already volunteered or been “voluntold” to be home room mom, coach little league, cook dinner for the entire theater club before Thursday’s performance of “Fiddler on the Roof”, and...

July 11-14 the rising 4th-6th graders of JCBC took a meaningful and exciting trip to PASSPORTkids! Camp. During those 4 days and 3 nights, we stayed at the beautiful and historic Converse College campus in Spartanburg, SC as we learned what it meant for God to be enough and how to live as chosen creations in Christ Jesus. Every day was packed with activities, energizers, Bible studies, worship and mission experiences. One of the most impactful parts of the week was learning about the Roma people in Eastern Europe. The kids were part of a “night market” where they learned about...

JCBC, I am happy to introduce to you Ansley Hall. Ansley joined our staff this Summer as the Weekday Preschool Director. Ansley is originally from the Johns Creek area and recently moved back with her husband and two children after spending her college and early career years in Alabama. She has a master’s degree in education, many years of experience in both public schools and preschool, outstanding leadership and communication skills, a deep love for God and children, and comes highly recommended. I am confident that her professional and personal experience give her what it takes to lead our preschool effectively and...

During the month of July we will be taking a "Sabbath" from Children's Worship (Thrive) at 11:00. Preschool Worship (Backyard) will run as usual, with Newborn - Pre-K classes staying in their routine. Now, before we all start thinking that kids and families don’t have to come to church in July let me explain what I mean by “Sabbath” and what “Sabbath” could mean for your family and our church in the coming month. Sabbath was created by God to keep us rested, full, and holy in the presence of God. Sabbath was created to make space in our hearts, minds,...

I’m swept away by what a great week VBS was! And as much as I love a good pun, there really was a current of love and joy flowing around our church last week. The children who walked through our doors were truly welcomed with open arms, easily finding adventure, acceptance, joy, peace, and rest among our JCBC Family. From last Sunday morning during Sunday School to Wednesday at 8:00pm, we had close to 400 kids “Experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God” at our Rolling River Rampage! These campers were full of energy and love. They made connections with new...

Experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God! VBS 2018 – Rolling River Rampage June 3rd – 6th Vacation Bible School is an extraordinary opportunity to minister to the children of our church and community every summer. June 3rd – 6th there will be hundreds of children coming through the doors of our church to “Experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God!” For many children this will be the first time they hear of God’s love, and for some, it will change their lives forever! We hope that God will use this experience to move children to accept Christ as they realize...

I am not prone to hyperbole, so believe me when I say last week's Vacation Bible School was one of the best of all time. Everything clicked and the kids were swept up in the energy of the Hero theme and the dual missional projects. There were hero masks and capes times 600 demonstrating that each child could do heroic and life-altering feats for God. VBS Director, Molly McNeese, did a Super job (did you see what I did there...

Each summer we have the unique opportunity to minister to the children in our church and community through Vacation Bible School. This year, on June 4 - 7, hundreds of children will come through the doors of our church, hungry to learn about Jesus. For many children, this may be the first time they have heard of the love of God. For some, it will change their course forever and prompt the most important decision of their lives of asking Christ into their hearts. We are shaping the future of our next generation through VBS. What an awesome responsibility we...

I love this time of year! The leaves are changing colors and the air is growing cooler. This time of year offers so many things for people and families to do together. Apple picking. Hayrides. Corn mazes. Football games. Bonfires. County Fairs. And churches are offering fall festivals and trunk-or-treats all over our community. On Sunday, we will have our annual Trunk or Treat here at JCBC from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. We will have trunks, fire trucks, hayrides, and more. The music will be playing, the sun will be shining, and the people will come. But here is what will happen...

It’s one of the hardest things that I have ever done. Some days are great. Some days are hard. Some days I have tried everything that I can think of to do, and I just want to crawl into a ball and throw in the towel. What is it? It’s this thing called…parenting. In a simple phrase…it’s the greatest thing and the hardest thing all wrapped up into tiny, sometimes not-so-tiny, human beings, that my wife and I are responsible for. We are responsible to make sure they get fed, have enough sleep, that their clothes are washed and dried, that homework gets done, that they make it to practice...
