Kep is the son of JCBC founding members, Shan and Kirby Pate. Kep and his sister Callie were both raised and baptized in the church, showing up every time the doors were open. God’s call in Kep’s life began at an early age as a staff member at Camp High Harbour, where he found a passion for loving others through teaching the person and character of Jesus Christ.
Kep attended Clemson University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Visual Arts in 2013. While at Clemson, he served as student minister and missionary through BCM and as a small group leader at LifePoint Church. More importantly Clemson is where Kep met his fiancé Sara Bailey Stocks.
He is a candidate for a Masters of Divinity at McAfee School of Theology, where he will graduate in May. Receiving the call of Youth Pastor at Johns Creek brought Kep’s journey full circle to return to the church that raised him. The countless friends, family, and leaders of the church who invested, loved, and nurtured him through all of life’s adventures, have defined the past twenty-five years.
Kep is most thankful for his family, which has been there for him since day one. From Grandparents whose love has remained unconditional to a fiancé who supports each and every endeavor, family has always been the corner stone of Kep’s faith. Above all, Kep’s parents have been the steadfast example of what it looks like to follow God with a life of love, laughter and joy.
