JCBC Week of Prayer and Fasting

We are spending this week as a church in focused, unceasing prayer. During this time of separation, tension, discernment, suffering, and unknowing we turn to the God who will unite us, bring us hope, and redeem our world one day at a time. This week we have the opportunity to follow these prompts daily, with a video message each morning from our pastor, who will guide us in prayer. A video message and invitation to prayer will be in your email box each morning (Monday through Friday). We trust that when we turn to Christ in faith, we will clearly and fully see the work of the Spirit in and among us.

Monday – CONFESSION

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9

We humble ourselves before the Lord, the One who sees our sin and loves us anyway. In your prayer today be honest with yourself and God. Confess and be forgiven for:

  • Personal Sins: These are individual sins; personal attitudes or behaviors that are not in keeping with the character of Christ, or the Way of life to which you have been called.
  • Corporate Sins: these are communal sins; attitudes or behaviors that we share and participate in together that are not in keeping with the character of Christ, or the work with which we have been entrusted.

Tuesday – PETITION

“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8*

We come to the Lord with faith that our needs will be fulfilled. What do you, your family, and our church need? Today, make petitions for:

  • Yourself
  • Your family
  • Johns Creek Baptist Church
  • Schools and Organizations that your family is part of

Wednesday – INTERCESSION

“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2*

We bring others to the Lord, asking and trusting that Christ will work on behalf of those we love. Today, pray on behalf of:

  • Friends
  • Enemies
  • Our Community
  • Our Nation
  • Those Suffering in our World

Thursday – THANKSGIVING

“My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.” – James 1:2-4*

We look back on what God has done and look around at what God is doing. Our ever faithful, ever present God has brought us through highs and lows and continues to do so today. Today, thank God for:

  • Salvation
  • Grace
  • Provision
  • Perspective
  • Technology
  • Community

Friday – PRAISE

“May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us,

Selah
that your way may be known upon earth,
your saving power among all nations.

Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.” – Psalm 67:1-3*

We look to God and are amazed at all God is. God is everything – the very life and breath in our lungs, the love and goodness that surrounds us, the power and might of creation. As you pray today, finish this sentence:

“God, I am amazed by all are you. I know you are worthy to be praised because you are . . .”
