Youth Ministry: Annie Westbrook
The Youth Ministry at Johns Creek Baptist church is made up students 6th – 12th grade and our College Ministry. Our mission is to lead students of all ages into a deep, more authentic relationship with Christ.
Our goal at JCBC is to lead students, 6th – 12th grade, into a deeper, more authentic relationship with Christ. We believe growth is shown in Youth Ministry when a teenager takes a step toward owning their faith. There is no finish line or certificate of completion when it comes to spiritual growth, so we celebrate each time we see a teenager take one step closer to owning their faith in God. Our leaders believe that discipleship is a process that happens in community and are committed to walk along with students as they learn how to fully live into the people God has created and calls them to be. At JCBC we have weekly programing and monthly events for our students to learn and be encouraged to step into owning their faith.
Sunday School: 9:30am-10:45am
Our Sunday School is a big part of JCBC’s DNA. Youth classes are split up by grade (6th – 12th) and offer a great opportunity for learning and growth. Our teachers are dedicated to Bible teaching and community building believing that spending time with God and others are keys to discipleship.
Sunday Nights: 5:00pm-7:00pm
Grow Groups are on Sunday Nights throughout the school year from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the youth area at JCBC. We encourage all of our students 6th-12th grades to participate in a Grow Group. Grow Groups are small groups that are split by grade and gender. The purpose of Grow Groups is for students to “grow” in three ways: First, they will grow in their relationship with God through Bible study and spiritual practices. Second, they will grow in their relationship with each other and their experienced leaders through authentic community. Third, they will grow in their ability to spread the Gospel by inviting others into the group and praying for the growth of the church.
Each month we have trips or events for our youth. The majority of our events are open to all students, 6th-12th grade, but some are split for middle or high school only. Year to year things may change some – flexibility is key in youth ministry! – but for the most part you can expect the following:
January: CBF Winter Youth Summit or JCBC Winter Retreat
February: Created by God (6th grade)
March: SERVE Weekend (formerly DNOW)
June: Passport Youth Camp
July: High School Mission Trip
August: Welcome Back Kickoff
September: Middle School Lock-In
October: Fall Retreat
December: Christmas Party
In the months we don’t have large group activities, we encourage Sunday School and Grow Groups to gather outside of our regular weekly meetings.
