It’s Consecration Day at JCBC!
This Sunday, August 6, 2017, we as one unified body of believers will move in one magnificent procession of worship, from the Sanctuary to the Family Life Center to re-dedicate that space as a place of sacred worship, to the glory of God.
We will sing.
We will pray.
We will share in the mystery of the Lord’s Supper.
And we will commit our hearts, minds, hands, and feet to the service of our Lord.
It’s Consecration Day at JCBC…and we need YOU!
We need your faith, your hope, and your love for our celebration to be complete.
Not only will this Sunday be a day to remember, it will also mark the beginning of a new sermon series for the month of August.
If you recall, when we began this remarkable journey of exploring our worship opportunities (more than 2 years ago), the very first thing we did was engage a sermon series entitled “Heart of Worship.” It was a six week study on the nature and character of Christian worship. It was my belief then (as it is all-the-more now) that before we ever entertain a conversation about HOW we worship, we must first understand WHY.
That series framed (in no uncertain terms) the “intelligent congregational dialogue” that would follow. At the heart of that series was the uncompromising proclamation that true Christian worship is never merely about style, or musical preference, but rather about a radical yielding of our lives before the ONLY One worthy of our minds highest attention and heart’s deepest affection.
Now that we are moving into a new reality for our “shared life of authentic worship” at JCBC, it is more important than ever we understand what the true character of worship is all about.
To that end, I want the very first sermon series in our multi-venue worship experience to be about worship once more. We will “bookend” the remarkable congregational journey we have made together over the past two years with a study on what lies at the heart of authentic worship.
The series will be entitled…
“Magnificent Obsession: A Passionate Pursuit of the One Worthy Thing”
Here is a peek at our series at a glance…
- August 6 “Consecrate” (1 Corinthians 3:16)
- August 13 “With Everything” (Matthew 22: 34-40 and Colossians 1:16)
- August 20 “Cosume Me” (John 2: 13-17)
- August 27 “Way” (Romans 12:1-2; Amos 5:21-24)
These are remarkable days at JCBC.
We are framing our future every time we gather.
I hope you will commit to be present for each of these Sundays.
Have I told you lately how much I love being your pastor?
Well, I do.

Shaun, you presented this so very well in last Sunday’s message. I thought it was a very moving service and YOU seem to always know/select the best words to present the message. Your passion is so obvious. I believe God is truly speaking through you…….oh my, what an awesome responsibility and I know He is pleased!! Dave
