On Sunday, June 28, 6:oopm, our Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will present Celebrate America! It is a favorite of many and we will have numerous people from outside the JCBC family who will attend. I hope you will join us as we celebrate.
I’ve said this before and I say it again here. I love America! I’m very patriotic. I believe the US is the greatest country God has ever allowed on the face of the Earth. But I do want to make something clear. On June 28, we come to celebrate America but we come to worship God our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ His Son. We come to acknowledge that all the blessings we have as Americans…and we have many…are from our Lord.
We will be singing and pledging our devotion to our great nation…and proclaiming “our Fathers’ God, to Thee, author of liberty, to Thee we sing.” We will pray for our nation and its leaders as God’s Word instructs us to do. Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. (I Timothy 1:1-2)
We will honor those who protect our freedoms and those who made the supreme sacrifice for those freedoms. And we will sing our praise to Jesus Christ Who sacrificed His own life, so that we could be free in Him. If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. (John 8:36) Our American freedoms are for this lifetime. The freedom in Jesus Christ is for eternity.
I hope you will plan to join us as we celebrate…sing…praise…worship as a family. Invite someone to come with you. God will be honored and I believe you will be blessed.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord Psalm 33:12
The great, vital, and conservative element in our system is the belief of our people in the pure doctrines and the divine truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Congress, 1854.
