JCBC Family,
With the threat of Hurricane Florence looming off the east coast, it is becoming clear that great destruction seems likely. As we all lift our prayers for the most vulnerable in the path of the storm, I want you to be aware of one very tangible way we are posturing to serve at JCBC.
We have reached out to the American Red Cross to offer our facilities and our care, and will soon be identified as an official Evacuation Shelter. IF the need is great, we will be called upon to open our doors and host residents who have been displaced by the hurricane or the ensuing storms and/or flooding that typically follow.
Please note: At present, we have NOT been activated as an open shelter.
But the call could come at a moment’s notice.
In the event that I receive such a call, we will use all channels of communication to keep you completely informed and up-to-date with any changes to our ongoing programming, as well as opportunities to volunteer.
God has blessed us with amazing facilities to enjoy every week, as we bring glory to God through worship and study and community fellowship. God has also blessed us with a love in this congregation that is uncommonly strong. Perhaps there is no more beautiful expression of glorifying God and demonstrating that love, than to use what God has given us to welcome the hurting.
Have I told you how much I love being your Pastor?
Well, I do.
Shaun
