Saturday September 24th – 8:30 AM
55 Buford Highway NE, Suwanee GA 30024
The Ivy Creek Greenway is a 2.5 mile walk-in / walk-out trail in George Pierce Park. To meet the group at the trailhead, drive all the way to the back of the park toward the Adult Sports Fields. The road ends in the parking lot where we will gather.
The trail itself is a combination of concrete and wooden boardwalk through a deciduous forest and wetlands. The trail is plenty wide and completely accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. It is nearly totally shaded. The trail is somewhat undulating (typical of North Georgia) but not as hilly as our last walk. There are adequate benches along the way if you’d like to sit and rest for a minute and there is a really nice observation deck overlooking a bog. I came across several grazing deer when I walked it this week. There are several options for making the walk longer if you like. Ivy Creek Greenway meets the Suwanee Creek Greenway which extends for another 4 miles. There are also numerous George Pierce Park trails that branch off our route. There are restrooms near the parking lot as well as a really nice and spacious playground for the kiddos and a shelter for gathering after the walk. We’ll have some water and fruit on hand. George Pierce Park is also very near the Suwanee Town Center so there are lots of options for a post-walk group brunch or lunch. I like this trail – and I think you will too.
So…c’mon Johns Creek! Let’s Walk!
