We are Connected for Community
We were never intended to do life all alone, but rather in the love and company of God and each other.
Live long enough and injury will come. Emotional, Social, Relational, Physical, Spiritual. You pick your poison. It just does. Sooner or later, somewhere, sometime, someone will hurt you. You will be wronged. Violated. Offended. Sinned against. And it will not be your fault. Other times? It will be you. You will be the one in the wrong. The violator. The offender. The one who crossed the line. The one who sinned against. And it will all be your fault. What then? At the heart of our Christian faith is the belief that our brokenness can be repaired. Any of it. All of it. Both, the brokenness we receive, and the brokenness we inflict. This, is the power of forgiveness. Just when we assume all is lost; and we have passed the point of no return, it turns out that it’s not, and we haven’t. Forgiveness is God’s redemptive and transforming love at work within us. It’s the liberating power that enables us to go to bed with a clear conscience. To wake up with no fear. To eat dinner, among friends, with no elephants in the room. Whether receiving, or giving… forgiveness is the key that unclasps the human heart and sets it free from a life of bitterness and bondage. On Sunday, April 27th, we begin a new 6 part sermon series entitled, “Forgiveness.” In this series, we will take a close look at what the Bible has to say about the liberating power of receiving AND giving forgiveness.
