Reading is one of my passions. Beginning each day with a quiet time (I’m currently enjoying the website d365.org) and ending each day with reading for inspiration, education or recreation is the norm for me. It was difficult enough trying to narrow my favorites down to ten and now to pare that to three is a test of my decision making skills! These 3 books, and most any others from these authors, will inform, challenge and delight you as you make the time to read. Enjoy!
Raising Great Kids– Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend (also the authors of Boundaries, another classic)
This is one of the best parenting books I’ve ever come across. It has a healthy, Christian perspective with the emphasis on raising children of Character. Most would agree that we want to help our children be all that God wants them to be. This Biblically based, character-building wisdom will help guide adults to lead the way for the children that they are (grand) parenting or teaching.
Traveling Mercies-Anne Lamott
Most any Anne Lamott book causes me to stop and think and re-think my perspective on church and my relationship with God and others. Her irreverence and wit bring refreshing light to faith matters. We will be reminded of the hope that shows itself even in the darkest of times.

Run With the Horses– Eugene Peterson
I thought Leap Over a Wall, a study of the life of David, was the best Peterson book I had ever read until I came upon this one. I was surprised to find that my most recent favorite Peterson book is a study of Jeremiah. His incredibly descriptive writing style will make scripture come alive for you. In this study, you will be motivated “to risk, to trust, to pursue wholeness and excellence- to run with the horses in the midst of life.”

Pastor Jill your book recommendations are wonderful for my GREATGRAND’S new generation.. I have already read some of the same things that inspire and entertain you.. but your suggestions for this new age generation of GREAT-
Grands is timely and I so appreciate knowing what is good now… You are a delight to so many of us who appreciate your devotion to the little ones coming along learning about JESUS; and their role in Salvation History at an early age. We thank you and love you.. ml
Hi Jill! I’m interested in the daily devotions at d365.org. Do you log onto this site every morning or is there a way to sign up and receive the links via email? I visited the site and was a little confused. 🙂
Looking forward to investigating your book choices.
