VBS Needs Y-O-U!
June 2nd – 5th, 2019
It is almost here! Vacation Bible School is an extraordinary opportunity to minister to the children of our church and community every summer.
This year, June 2nd – 5th, there will be hundreds of children coming through the doors of our church to “Explore How Jesus Saves the World!” For many children this will be the first time they hear of God’s love and salvation, and for some, it will change their lives forever! We hope that God will use this experience to move children to accept Christ as they realize His presence for the first time. VBS is a unique event where we have the chance to shape the future of the next generation year after year!
This year, our kids will blast off on an intergalactic adventure as they learn how Jesus saves the world. Students will learn foundational Bible stories through interactive storytelling, space themed crafts and games, and snacks that are out of this world! Our VBS leaders have been planning, preparing, and praying since January, and now it’s up to you to help make this happen! We hope that there will be more children present than we could imagine. We want to be blown away by the number of smiling faces on our campus – learning, laughing, loving and worshipping God together!
You may be wondering if there is a place for you at VBS, or if there is a way for you to make a difference in these children’s lives. There definitely is! We need full church participation to make this event happen whether you choose to volunteer, bring in missions donations, pray for our team, or all of the above! Did you know it takes nearly 200 volunteers to make Vacation Bible School a success? At this point we are still in need of about 90 volunteers to pull off this event with the excellence and fruitfulness we have in the past. We truly need all able hands on deck! Particularly as storytellers or class leaders. Storytellers receive a script with the story and interactive ideas. Class leaders assist with the craft in the “space station” and then lead the children to the different stations as they experience the Gospel in hands-on ways. Both roles are rewarding as you see the stories of Scripture come to life through a child’s eyes! For questions about either of these roles, please contact Annie Sutton. To sign up for these roles or any other, visit our VBS website, JCBC.org/VBS.
In the coming week, we have two Volunteer Workshop opportunities, Sunday, April 28 from 8:45 – 9:45am and Wednesday, May 1 from 6:00 – 7:00pm. All volunteers must attend one of these workshops as we discuss important information about the theme, security, dates to remember, and more. If you are still wondering if you should signup to volunteer, feel free to join one of our workshops to get a better idea of what VBS 2019 is all about and ask questions!
To register your child or grandchild, visit our VBS website! Send the link (jcbc.org/vbs) to a neighbor, teammate, or friend so everyone can experience the adventure together!
VBS is truly a churchwide effort and one of our biggest events of the year! We invite you to join us on the Miraculous Mission of discipling others through the foundational Bible stories that teach us how Jesus Saves the World!
