“Right Where You Belong”

Being a mom, if anything, keeps us humble. It keeps us nimble to the constant changes of life. Once we’ve seemingly mastered one season, our children grow and change and thus, we grow and change alongside them.  We often question — am I where I need to be?  In this season, am I where I belong?

We are tugged from messages that tell us to “Hustle!” or “Slow down!” We are either prodded into endless activity and productivity or told that what we really need is to prioritize rest, relaxation, and simply “being.”  We feel torn in every direction, worried we’re missing the opportunities God has placed before us while at the same time feeling guilty that we’re doing too much.

Christian author, speaker and popular podcast host, Heather MacFadyen, in her book “Right Where You Belong,” calls us to occupy our “God-given space” — the Hebrew definition of humility.   She explains that humility or occupying our God given space is not just avoiding overstepping our boundaries, but it’s also being sure we step into them.  We each have our own God-given space.

God has given you talents and a sphere of influence. Your role is to fill that space, empowered by the Holy Spirit. In this book, Heather presents four boundary lines to help you identify your unique God-given space and shows you how to evaluate your next steps with confident peace so that you can stop feeling exhausted and guilty and start feeling fulfilled.  It’s time to replace FOMO, inadequacy, and hustle culture with the satisfaction that comes from owning the space we’ve been assigned.

Let’s discover how to identify and fully occupy our God given space.  Grab your copy of “Right Where You Belong” and let’s read and study it together.
