I am thrilled to announce a very special event coming to JCBC in February. It is Suzanne Stabile’s “Know Your Number” Enneagram Retreat.
It’s a hot conversation these days. Everywhere you turn someone is talking about the Enneagram. What’s your number? How about your wing? Which subtype are you? Where do you go in seasons of stress and health?
It can all sound like a completely foreign language. Yet, I will tell you the truth. I have personally found the Enneagram to be the single greatest tool for spiritual growth and development in Christ I have ever known–second only to scripture.
WHAT IS THE ENNEAGRAM?
The Enneagram is an ancient guide for understanding your own personality. Yet, it’s far more than simply a personality typing system (like Meyers-Briggs, DISC, Strength Finder, etc.) In many ways it is more like a map to help a person navigate the hidden terrain and sometimes difficult landscape of our interior lives. It helps us understand WHY we do the things we do, and what drives us, at times, into the same old familiar traps. It shows us the lens through which we see the world and gives us a look through others’ lenses. It is a powerful Map that shows us what it feels like to be in our own skin and it offers a way to understand others in theirs.
WHO IS SUZANNE STABILE?
Suzanne Stabile is one of the foremost respected Enneagram Master Teachers in the world.
Known as a “priceless source of wisdom” and a “grace-filled truth teller,” Suzanne has been a student of the Enneagram for more than 30 years. Her winsome, narrative style of teaching connects with audiences of all sizes and ages.
Following the publication of the Enneagram primer, The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery, Suzanne’s latest book The Path Between Us: An Enneagram Journey to Healthy Relationships guides readers into deeper insights about themselves, their types, and others’ personalities. Her 12-week small group curriculum, The Enneagram Journey, provides an opportunity for groups to use Enneagram wisdom to travel towards health and wholeness together
Suzanne is also the host of the popular podcast, The Enneagram Journey. An interview style podcast, The Enneagram Journey seeks to promote community, patience, and tolerance through a growing understanding of the differences and similarities that undergird our humanity.
Suzanne is a featured Enneagram instructor at some of the world most prestigious locations and gatherings, including Father Richard Rohr’s Center for Action and Contemplation. You can read more about Suzanne here. Suffice it to say, having her spend the weekend at JCBC is a great blessing.
WHAT IS THE “KNOW YOUR NUMBER” EVENT AT JCBC?
The event will open to the public, with hopes that we draw a great number of participants from the greater Atlanta region. Whether you are new to the Enneagram, or already an enthusiast, this event is for you. It will take place on a Friday evening and most of Saturday. It will be a combination of presentations, instruction, breakout dialogue, and discovery. A detailed itinerary for this Friday/Saturday event will soon follow. So, save the date now! Two weeks prior to the “Know Your Number” event, on January 26th, I will be starting a new sermon series entitled “Me, Myself, and WHY?” For 12 weeks, we will explore through scripture and the wisdom of the Enneagram, why it is we sometimes keep making the same mistakes over and over again, and how we take real steps toward healing and wholeness in our relationships with God, with others, and with ourselves.
Each week, I will feature someone who represents that particular Enneagram number. On week #3, my guest will be Suzanne Stabile, who has agreed to join me during the sermon for an on-stage dialogue. You will not want to miss this Sunday!
