It is hard to believe, but this Sunday will mark the beginning of my fifth year as Senior Pastor of this great church.
In some ways, it feels as if we just arrived yesterday.
In others, so much has been accomplished together in these four years it seems as if we have been together a decade or more.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, the turn of every year provides an opportunity to look back at where God has brought us, give thanks for the strides made, and then vision forward (by faith) to where God is calling us in the coming year.
That is why I want to urge you to be at church this Sunday, January 8th.
During morning worship, I will deliver my annual “State of the Church” Address.
The State of the Church Address has previously been held on Wednesday night, but this year we are moving it to Sunday morning to engage a wider audience.
We now find ourselves at the beginning of what I am confident will be remembered as an historic year in the life of our church. We have an extraordinary year ahead. This Sunday, I will cast a ministry vision for 2017 and beyond, as we take a worshipful glance ahead to all that awaits, and muster the congregational courage required to be faithful to the call of God upon our shared life.
I pray you will make it a priority to be a part of this important event in the life of our church.
Have I told you lately how much I love being your pastor?
Well, I do.
