2 Opportunities for JCBC to Participate in the National Day of Prayer

In 1775 the Continental Congress allocated a time for prayer in forming a new nation. Over the years, there have been numerous national calls to pray. Indeed, throughout our history, there have been over 140 calls to prayer, humiliation, fasting, and thanksgiving by Presidents of the United Sates. On April 17, 1952, President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming the National Day of Prayer into law in the United States. Amended, by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, the National Day of Prayer was set to occur each year on the first Thursday of May.

The National Day of Prayer is for people of all faiths to deliberately pray for the welfare of our communities, our nation, and world. This Thursday, May 3, 2018, there are two opportunities to for JCBC members to participate in the National Day of Prayer.

The Johns Creek Interfaith Prayer Gathering
This prayer service will be led by various faith leaders in and around the city of Johns Creek. It will take place at 12:00 noon, at World Financial Group/Transamerica, 11315 Johns Creek Parkway. This event will be approximately 30 minutes in length, and will have as its theme: “Unity.”

JCBC Night of Worship
Our second JCBC Night of Worship will take place Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. The focus of the night will be prayer and communion. Adam Courtney and the JCBC Worship Band will lead worshippers in powerful, soul-stirring music, as we cry out to God with the melody of our adoration and praise.

In addition to lifting our voice in song, we will experience poignant times of guided prayer. Worshippers will have the opportunity to pray individually and corporately as a body of believers devoted to the love of Jesus Christ and the repair of a fractured world.

As a way to embody that kind of prayer of repair, worshippers will have the opportunity to share in communion, as we enact the one and only true source of reconciliation—the broken body and shed blood of our Lord.

I pray you will take the opportunity to invite someone to Night of Worship, as we lift our prayers together before the one who hears our cry. It will be a night to remember!

Have I told you lately how much I love being your Pastor?
Well, I do.
