“Love God, Love People, Follow Jesus.” Isn’t this what it is ALL about?
June 1st is the official beginning of our annual Vacation Bible School- a Workshop of Wonders (WOW) where we will imagine and build with God. Much of our congregation, and all of our staff, have already been preparing, praying, and gathering. And we’ve just begun! How exciting this week in June will be, learning about Christ’s love through story, sharing Christ’s love through singing, and living Christ’s love through “mission-ing”. And that’s where the rubber hits the road. The children who enter our doors will have many opportunities to imagine the ordinary becoming Extraordinary with God in their lives. They will be WOW’ed by the Bible teaching, the new friends found, and the chance to have a global impact.
All month long we, as a whole church, are collecting items to be placed in Operation Christmas Child boxes, and we want your help! We know how much JCBC’ers love to help. We know how much JCBC’ers love to give. We know how much JCBC’ers love to shop. So….on Sunday June 1st we will have a church wide “Stock a Box for Children” day. There will be collection bins around the church and we will fill the sanctuary with these supplies. Imagine toothbrushes, toothpaste, pencils, something to love, small plush toys, yo yo’s, jump-ropes, crayons, and coloring books all convening in one place, OUR CHURCH, to then be packaged and sent to children, whose parents live on less than $2 a day. Stop and imagine a little boy or girl’s smile as they open up a box filled with treasures they do not daily get. Imagine also the love and prayers invested in each box that will make an even greater impact.
So we are tripling our impact this year with those attending VBS, the 900 lunches we are providing for inner city Atlanta kids who wouldn’t have lunch otherwise, and the children around the world who receive a box of goodies packed with love and prayer, and the gospel!
So, thank you in advance for stocking a box! Thank you for being part of a church that wants to make a difference. And thank you for Loving God, Loving People, and following Jesus through this avenue.

Thank you for your blog this morning. Many thanks to you and all who will be working in VBS this year. Reading it brought back many fond memories. I think the first year I served as director of VBS was in 1944,after my 1st year in college and from then on for many years. That was some of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
My prayers and support will be with you for the greatest VBS you have ever experienced !!!

We older adults are so proud of our children , teens and young adults, Because we see in all of them the future Church of Jesus Christ. We watch them moving forward in time and pray for them as your vision and dedicated leadership helps to mold and shape the Church of the future. We are so blessed to have people who LOVE JESUS leading the youth of this Church toward a better kind of World for all people of the World -in the name of Christ the Lord.
