The State of the Church

As I have written in a previous blog post, the beginning of a new year holds immense possibilities for our growth.

We pause to reflect back over the passing of another year. We consider where we have journeyed, what we have experienced, and how we have been shaped by the life that has happened in us and around us.

We also look ahead. We take time to consider what unknown life will unfold in the months before us. We lean into it with great anticipation and trust in the One who is constantly loving us forward.

January is like that. It’s kind of a liminal month. A month that represents a kind of space between spaces; a time between times; when we are in a bit of a suspended state of looking ahead and looking back and looking ahead again. That’s why it takes some a little longer than others to pen the right year on their checks… 2014 2015.

There is something incredibly healthy and life-giving about that kind of activity.
I have said it before, and I will say it here: We are in a constant state of becoming.
Or, to borrow from our iMAGINEXT language: In Christ, there is never NOT a next.

If this is true, then it becomes crucial in the life of any growing believer (or any growing church) to stop from time to time, look back, reflect, look ahead, and by faith, move forward.

That’s why I want to invite you to attend “The State of the Church.”

On Wednesday, January 28th at 6:00 p.m. our congregation will gather for an exciting and empowering time of reflection and vision. We will look back over where God has brought us thus far, and will lean forward to catch a glimpse of what God may be doing in us and among us in the year ahead.

We will be talking about many significant areas of our congregational life. Not only the major milestones or events of the past and coming years, but more importantly what we perceive God doing among us in the areas of Connections, Formations, Mobilization and Worship. This event is for all ages, and promises to be engaging, informative and fun! We strongly encourage families with children or youth to be present and engaged.

Our State of the Church Address will take place just a few hours prior to the national State of the Union Address. So, regardless of whether you go home to cheer or jeer the state of our Union, you can begin your night with great confidence what God has been up to in our church, and in the state of a Kingdom not of this world!

Save the date: January 28th And, join us for the State of the Church.

  • THE STATE OF THE CHURCH SPEECH WARMED MY OLD HEART PASTOR SHAUN
AND THE SERVICE ON SUNDAY MORNING Both the CHOIR and singing together as a family was so uplifting.. that sermon is one of many that is so appropriate to this day and age when anything goes and sometimes the CHURCH tends to forget its OWN progressive heritage of fine CHRISTIAN SCHOLARSHIP and NEW TESTAMENT THEOLOGY FOUNDED AND GROUNDED IN JESUS… I LOVE IT ALL AND AM SO GLAD TO STILL BE IN A PLACE THAT KNOWS HOW TO TRULY WORSHIP GOD AND TO HONOR OUR SAVIOR through practicing HIS own specific ” MISSION VISION” .. mlp
