God’s Miraculous Mission

Last week we Blasted Off and explored God’s Miraculous Mission at VBS 2019!

JCBC, you really showed up to teach the kids who walked through our doors about the wonderful love of Christ and God’s plan to save the world! There is no question that we lived out the Great Commission to spread the good news of Jesus to our neighbors and friends.

From last Sunday morning during Sunday School to Wednesday at 8:00pm, we had close to 400 kids at our Miraculous Mission VBS! These campers were full of energy and love. They made connections with new and old friends, gave out lots of hugs, and most importantly learned what it meant to be loved and cared for by our Heavenly Creator!

The kids also raised $2514.50 for our Puerto Rico Roofing Project. With the Rotary Club of John Creek’s commitment, that brings our total up to $5,118! The generosity of our kids, friends, and neighbors is putting a roof over a family in need! We also packed over 300 hygiene kits for The Place of Forsyth! These kids and our volunteers were so ready to share the love of Jesus with others. What a blessing!

I am thankful for the 200 volunteers who gave their time, energy, and love to this event. As much as I planned, I absolutely could not have made it all happen without each and every person who showed up to make snacks, lead kids, tell Bible stories, organize crafts, lead games, make copies, register campers, welcome kids and volunteers, teach missions, take pictures, record video, and put on a celebration that really was Christ centered and worship filled. Thank you, also, to the Sunday School Communities who gave missions donations. Your support means so much to our Children’s Ministry!

I want to give an extra “thank you!” to our Children’s Ministry Assistant, Lauren Dunn, for her excellent organization and above-and-beyond attitude during both the planning and execution of VBS. We both would have been at a loss without the support and work of Mary Lynn Huett, Jenni Colosimo, Haley Evers and the rest of our director team, which consisted of: Jennifer & Jason Collins – decorations, Cindy Arnold, Molly Fike, & Angie Daugherty – Crafts, Melissa Keel & Sarah Beth Loudermilk – snacks, Marsha Janofsky – Storytelling, Matt Janofsky – greeters, Ted Tarpley – Rec, and Mark Smith with his production team. We appreciate everything you did and gave to make this VBS a success!

Our directors are so great that we are already talking about VBS 2020! Is it too early to mark your calendars? I don’t think so! June 7 – 10, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00pm! See you there, and a lot before then!
