I was exceedingly proud of our church (once more) this past weekend.
Members of the JCBC Innovation Teams, charged with the development of our four Strategic Initiatives, presented a plan before the JCBC Leadership.
Congregational leaders (made up of the Pastor’s Council, Stewardship Committee, Deacon Body, Committee Chairs, Officers, Sunday School Community Leaders and Pastoral Staff) gathered on Saturday to consider four particular areas where our church will focus strategic energy over the next three years…
- A Vibrant and Growing Youth Ministry
- A Thriving Senior Adult Ministry
- A Deliberate Member-Mobilization Strategy
- A Robust and Comprehensive Marketing Strategy
In a previous blog, I outlined the timeline of events and the numerous hours of discernment that have brought us to this day, and have prepared us to fix our attention on these critical areas of need.
After delineating the details of the plan, and illustrating how each initiative is mutually-dependent and mutually-empowering of the others, leaders were given the opportunity to engage in dialogue. Our Family Life Center was divided into quadrants, where each of the four Innovation Teams were stationed to host and address questions, concerns, and affirmations of our strategic plan.
With the room energized by curiosity, imagination, laughter and love, leaders reconvened and voted unanimously to recommend these initiatives to the church-at-large for our unified approval and pursuit.
To that end, I want you to mark your calendars now for Sunday, October 20, 2019.
On this day, I will deliver my annual State of the Church Address during worship. In this sermon, I will cast a vision of the impact these initiatives will have in the life and future of this great church. So, save the date, and make plans now to be with us in worship that day!
These are days of immense opportunity.
God is calling our church to a new kind of greatness, for a never-before-known kind of time.
I pray you will not miss a moment to discover WHO we are, for WHERE we are, WHEN we are.
