[vc_video link='https://vimeo.com/287344005/8328654fa7'] Aside from God’s Holy and Inspired Word, some of the most profound and theologically deep writings are found in hymns.  Through the ages, hymns have been a way to pour out our worship to God. Some hymns are sung directly to God: “Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love…” Others are sung about God:  “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation. Oh, my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation.” Still others are sung to encourage others in their walk with God: “Come, we that love the Lord and let our...

Sunday, June 24, the Johns Creek Baptist Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra joined together to present Celebrate America!110 individuals joined together as with one voice to worship our amazing Lord and to celebrate all He has given us in our great country. It was a powerful time of worship. It was a moving time of remembering and honoring those who put their lives on the line so we could have the freedoms we enjoy.  We sang. We played rousing marches. We waved flags. We bowed in prayer. We worshiped. One of the largest Celebrate America crowds in memory enthusiastically joined in. Our talented...

On June 25th, our Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra led us in Celebrate America!  It was a time to both celebrate our great nation and to worship our great Savior.  We remembered and honored those who have served or are currently serving in our armed forces. We are a free country because of the sacrifice these men and women have made. We also honored the vast volunteer force in our country…those who serve, with no expectation of reward, in so many areas of our culture:  hospitals, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s sports leagues, taking care of the elderly, teaching Sunday School and...

This past Sunday, we celebrated Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem that marked the beginning of the week of His Passion….Holy Week.  Luke tells the story this way: When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:  “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”; “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”  Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop.”  He answered, “I...

Do you feel the chill in the air? The crispness of the wind as it whistles through the trees? Can you see the bright little flurry as it swirls in the wind, glistening in the sun? No. Me either! The air is anything but crisp and the only chill in the air is blowing out of the air conditioner! But what is in the air is excitement…as the Sanctuary Choir begins preparations for Christmas at Johns Creek 2016! This is the 19th annual presentation and the fun begins next Wednesday. Christmas Party 2016 is August 31 in the Heritage Room. Rehearsal...

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:2 Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things.  Psalm 98:1 I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Psalm 104:33 Throughout scripture, we are given instructions for worship like these. And we are given examples of worship.  David before the Ark.  Paul in prison. We are to sing joyfully…with all our hearts…as long as we live…in good times and in bad.  But isn’t it interesting that there is one piece of instruction that...

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…!” School is back in session…the temps are cooler…leaves are beginning to turn…football is at the forefront…the hustle and bustle of fall is all around us. This must mean that preparations have begun for Christmas at Johns Creek! Christmas at Johns Creek has become a Christmas tradition. This is our 18th year! Annually 2 packed houses come for this presentation and at least half of those in attendance are not JCBC members. Many bring neighbors and friends…some who do not attend any church. Others come from around the area and across the state. It...

On Sunday, June 28, 6:oopm, our Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will present Celebrate America! It is a favorite of many and we will have numerous people from outside the JCBC family who will attend. I hope you will join us as we celebrate.   I’ve said this before and I say it again here. I love America! I’m very patriotic. I believe the US is the greatest country God has ever allowed on the face of the Earth. But I do want to make something clear. On June 28, we come to celebrate America but we come to worship God our Heavenly...

Years ago, the popular TV sitcom “Cheers” had a theme song that included the words “you want to be where everybody knows your name.” We all want to belong. We all want to feel part of a family, whether a family of origin or a family of friends. In the Sanctuary Choir our theme is “More than Music...
