One Neighbor Challenge

This past Sunday, we began a new sermon series entitled, “Love My Neighbor.”

We immersed ourselves deeply into a study of our Lord’s two-fold command:
“…love the Lord your God with all our heart, soul, and mind…and…love our neighbor as yourself,”~Matthew 22:37-39

We recognized that while these are two distinct commandments, one is actually an extension of the other: To love God…IS to love our neighbor.

Why?
Because we love God by loving who God loves. Period.

If you missed the message Sunday, I encourage you to watch it sometime this week. It builds a foundation for the rest of the series, and helps frame the “why” behind our current [BE] campaign.

At the end of the sermon I issued what we are calling the “One Neighbor Challenge.”

Throughout the month of September, I am challenging everyone within our congregation to pour their love into the life of one neighbor, all month long.

She or he doesn’t have to live in your neighborhood. (But they could.)
Your neighbor could be a classmate, a co-worker, a teammate, or grocery clerk.
Make no mistake about it. God has placed someone in your daily path for you to love.

Who might it be?
And what will you do about it?

All month. One neighbor. Radical love.

Have I told you how much I love being your pastor?
Well, I do.
