Advent 2017

With the season of Advent just around the corner, I hope you and your family plan to take full advantage of every opportunity to gather with your church family and marvel at the unspeakable mystery of God’s love made known to us in the birth of our Lord. Below is a list of some of these opportunities.

  • Blue Christmas, November 29th at 6:00pm in the Chapel.
Are you or someone you love experiencing sadness during this season? Is it difficult to get into the Christmas spirit because of some loss or transition that has impacted you? No need to put on masks. Come and be who you are, how you are. Find comfort and hope at our Blue Christmas Service.
  • “Carols of Christmas: More Than Meets the Ear.”
Join us for this special Advent Sermon Series. We will be looking at some of the most provocative and mysterious Christmas Carols throughout the ages. You can read more about this unique series in next week’s call.
  • Christmas at Johns Creek, December 9th at 3pm and December 10th at 4pm.
It’s the 20th anniversary of the amazing Johns Creek Tradition. Come and celebrate the birth of our Lord through the incredible gifts of our music ministry.
  • Family Covenant Day, December 17th at 11:00am.
Join us in worship as we celebrate a parent and child dedication during morning worship. It’s a Family Covenant Day, as the whole church commits to support these families in their commitment to raise up their children in the Way of Christ.
  • Christmas Eve Candlelight/Communion Services, December 24th at 11am and 5 pm.
On Sunday morning, at 11:00am we will have our traditional “carols and lessons” service in the Sanctuary and a Contemporary Christmas Eve in the Family Life Center. But during the same hour, we will combine for one unified celebration of communion and the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight. It will be a truly special celebration! Then, we will also offer a repeat of the exact same traditional “lessons and carols” candlelight service at 5:00pm.

There are many opportunities this season for the church to gather and lift up our worship with one another. I pray you will take full advantage of each opportunity.

Have I told you lately how much I love being your pastor?
Well, I do.
